Responsible play: limits, breaks and support
Skill-card play is a hobby that can stretch late into the night. The responsible-play desk is the page to read before a long session, not after. The desk covers deposit caps, session timers, self-exclusion, state eligibility and the helplines that are useful at three in the morning.
Deposit caps
A deposit cap is the single most effective tool in the reader's hands. A cap is set per deposit, per day, per week or per month; the platform enforces the cap regardless of whether the reader asks to exceed it.
How to set a cap
The cap is set inside the account settings on every reviewed platform. The path is usually: Account → Responsible play → Deposit cap. The reader enters the amount and the period. The change takes effect immediately.
How to reduce a cap
A cap can be reduced at any time. The reduction takes effect immediately and is permanent for the chosen period.
How to increase a cap
A cap can be increased only after a cooling-off period (usually seventy-two hours). The cooling-off period is a deliberate friction. The reader who is willing to wait seventy-two hours is the reader who actually needs the higher cap.
Session timers and breaks
A session timer logs the reader in for a fixed period. The platform reminds the reader to take a break at the chosen interval: fifteen minutes, thirty minutes, one hour, two hours.
The forced break
Some platforms enforce a five-minute break after a continuous session of three hours. The break cannot be skipped; the reader must wait for the timer to expire.
The play log
Every reviewed platform maintains a play log accessible from the account settings. The log shows every session with the date, the duration and the net result. The log is the reader's own audit trail.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion blocks the reader's account for a chosen period: six months, one year, or five years. The block cannot be reversed during the period. The reader who has set a self-exclusion cannot register a new account on the same platform.
How to set self-exclusion
The setting is inside the account settings: Account → Responsible play → Self-exclusion. The reader chooses the period and confirms. The confirmation is logged.
What happens during self-exclusion
The reader cannot log in, cannot deposit, cannot withdraw (except the existing balance, which is processed normally). Marketing emails are suppressed.
State eligibility
| State | Real-money play | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Andhra Pradesh | Restricted | State amendments restrict real-money online skill play. |

State rules change. The desk updates the table as new amendments are notified.
Helplines and support
If a reader is concerned about their play, either their own or someone else’s, the helplines below are open every day. The desk publishes the responsible-play resources of the five reviewed platforms on this page.
National helpline
The national mental health helpline (Tele-MANAS) is reachable at 14416. The helpline is staffed by trained counsellors and operates in multiple languages.
State-level resources
State-level mental health resources are listed on the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) directory. The directory is searchable by state and by language.
Platform-level tools
Every reviewed platform publishes its responsible-play page with deposit caps, session timers, self-exclusion and play logs. The desk does not operate the platforms; it only scores the responsible-play tooling.
Need the rules before another session?
The rules desk walks a new reader from the deal to the show in thirteen steps.

Support directory
National helpline

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) maintains a directory of state-level mental health resources. The directory is searchable by state and by language; the link is published on the responsible-play desk's contact panel.
Self-exclusion tools
Every reviewed platform publishes its self-exclusion tool on the public footer. The tool allows the reader to set a self-exclusion for six months, one year or five years. The block cannot be reversed during the chosen period.
Deposit cap tools
Every reviewed platform publishes its deposit cap tool inside the account settings. The cap can be set per deposit, per day, per week or per month. The cap can be reduced immediately; the cap can be increased only after a seventy-two-hour cooling-off period.
Play log access
Every reviewed platform provides a play log accessible from the account settings. The log shows every session with the date, the duration and the net result. The log is the reader's own audit trail.
Time-out tools
Every reviewed platform provides a time-out tool that locks the reader's account for a chosen period (24 hours, 48 hours or seven days). The time-out is shorter than self-exclusion and is intended for readers who need a quick break.
Reading the desk's recommendations
What the desk recommends
The desk recommends that every reader set a deposit cap before their first session. The cap can be ₹500 per day for a low-stakes reader or ₹5,000 per week for a regular reader. The desk recommends a session timer of one hour for a single session. The desk recommends a self-exclusion of six months for any reader who feels the play is becoming compulsive.
What the desk does not recommend
The desk does not recommend playing through a loss. The desk does not recommend increasing a deposit cap in the heat of the moment. The desk does not recommend ignoring the play log. The desk does not recommend chasing a previous session's result.
When to ask for help
The desk recommends asking for help when the play is interfering with sleep, work, relationships or finances. The desk recommends asking for help when the reader is hiding play from friends or family. The desk recommends asking for help when the reader is unable to stop after a session. The helplines section above lists the resources.
How the desk uses the recommendations
The desk does not use the recommendations to score platforms. A platform that offers a deposit cap is not automatically scored higher; the desk scores the responsible-play tooling on whether the cap is enforced, whether the cap can be reduced immediately, and whether the cap can be increased only after a cooling-off period.
What the responsible-play desk does
Tooling audits
The desk audits the responsible-play tooling of every reviewed platform. The audit checks: whether the deposit cap is enforced; whether the session timer is configurable; whether the self-exclusion link is in the public footer; whether the play log is downloadable; whether the time-out tool is offered. The audit is a scored column on the reviews page.
Reader education
The desk publishes plain-language guides to the responsible-play tools. The guides explain how to set a deposit cap, how to set a session timer, how to set a self-exclusion and how to read the play log. The guides are linked from every page of the publication.
Helpline directory
The desk maintains a helpline directory with national and state-level mental health resources. The directory is updated as resources change. The directory is linked from the responsible-play desk and from the safety desk.
What the desk does not do
The desk does not operate the helplines. The desk does not provide counselling. The desk does not adjudicate disputes between a reader and a platform's responsible-play tooling. The desk publishes information; the reader acts on the information.
